Pet recovery service seeks political yard signs for use in finding lost animals
MUNCY – Political yard signs used in the recent election campaigns of President Trump, Joe Biden and other candidates are being sought to be reused, this time in the search for missing dogs and cats.
A nonprofit volunteer pet recovery service based in Lycoming County is accepting unwanted political yard signs.
“I’ll take all you have,” said Bonnie L. Snyder, who operates Bellabon’s Pet Recovery Services in the Muncy area that is funded by donations.
She is interested in just the wire, not the campaign posters themselves, she said.
Snyder wants to make yard signs, she said, because some municipalities do not permit posters to be attached to utility poles and in at least two communities someone has been removing ones placed on poles, she said.
She would seek permission before placing a missing animal sign on a property, she said. Since they would be on private property it would be illegal for someone to take them, she said.
Bellabon’s staff members find lost animals in Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan and Union counties and part of Centre.
Snyder said she has reunited several dogs and cats with their owners in the past week.
Anyone with a political sign they want to get rid of can contact Snyder at 570-244-1789. “I’ll take all you have,” she said.
Bellabon’s Facebook page is filled with pictures of reunited animals. “I work with any animal,” she said.
