(Meredith/WTAE/CNN) — A 10-year-old Labrador retriever mix who spent 1,134 days at a Pennsylvania animal shelter now has a new home just in time for the holidays.
Animal Friends in Pittsburg welcomed the dog, named Capone, into the shelter in November 2017. During his stay, Capone made plenty of human friends as he patiently waited for a loving family to come along and adopt him.
His patience paid off on Nov. 10 when he was officially adopted by a family who had been fostering him for several weeks.
“They say good things come to those who wait…and that couldn’t be more true for our sweet Capone who FINALLY found his new family,” Animal Friends announced on Facebook. “Happy Tails Capone! We’re so glad that you have a family of your own and a home for the holidays.”
The shelter also posted photos of Capone and his new owners, though their names were not released.
“Since we’ve welcomed Capone into our home, his transformation has been truly amazing,” Capone’s new family said in a statement. “His anxiety has diminished quickly and continues to melt away. He is a good and loving boy who enjoys snuggling and family life. We attribute his success to the care and training he received from the devoted staff and volunteers at Animal Friends, and we thank them for their efforts.”
