St. Clair County Animal Control is looking for donations to help animals in need.

Animal control is accepting donations of canned or dry cat food, dog food, cat litter, dog crates, dish soap, laundry detergent, bleach and creamy peanut butter that does not contain xylitol.

St. Clair County Animal Control Director Melissa Miller said donations will be used for animals in the shelter as well as for pet owners who might need assistance.

Miller said animal control will often provide pet owners with assistance so they can keep their pet during financial hardships. This might mean providing a bag of dog food, box of cat litter or a dog crate.

“Some people might need to downsize or move in with a family member, so something as simple as a dog crate might make it easier,” Miller said.
